| The
Instructors
Core to RIDE Kitesurfing School are Rou and Perry. It was
their concept and their brainchild. So you don’t end
up wondering who you are supposed to meet down the beach
here is a brief introduction to them.
Perry
Lamb
A little older than most Perry has spent decades (literally)
surfing, and has traveled extensively, catching waves in
many places (Broadstairs?) that most only read about in
magazines. He came to the sport a little late in life, but
in the three years he has been kiting he has attacked it
with a vengeance and loves it with a passion, He gets in
the water around Thanet and takes trips abroad as often
as his proper job (teacher) allows. He is owner of local
surf shop Mudbay. He quit the classroom and qualified as
an IKO instructor earlier this year. Rou thinks that Perry
is slightly more organized than he is. (But then, you can
fool some of the people....!).
Rou
Chater
Rou has been kitesurfing since before he can remember and
an instructor for over a year and a half. Before that he
taught windsurfing and dinghy sailing at the highest level
both in the UK and abroad for over 10 years. To be fair
there isn’t much he doesn’t know about teaching
water sports. Rou came 10th in the UK last year in the BKSA
rankings, this year he hasn’t competed due to injury
and has spent more time teaching. He is also the Editor
of Kitesurf Magazine and so every couple of months he disappears
for a week or so. Apparently he calls it work.
Who
better to help you on your path to kitesurfing heaven, between
them there isn’t much they don’t know, about
teaching, kitesurfing or beer!
